Branding for manufacturing and engineering companies

Engineers switch off at the first whiff of hype and trust only what they can see. We help manufacturing and engineering companies show their work clearly, with positioning, 3D visuals and sales tools a sceptical buyer believes.

What we’ve learned

Engineers believe what they can see working.

People who build things for a living are hard to impress with adjectives. The production engineers Additive Flow sells to trust only what they see with their own eyes, and the plant managers DeepCube needed to win had already sat through AI pitches that didn’t deliver. With buyers like these, a claim to be the smartest or the most powerful tends to cost credibility rather than earn it.

So our manufacturing work leans on evidence the buyer can picture. For Advanced Electric Machines we built 3D renders and exploded-view animations that show how each motor works. For Additive Flow we wrote a voice that backs every significant claim with performance data. For TI Fluid Systems the proof had to start inside the business, with workshops that brought its two sides behind one story.

If an engineer can’t see it working, no adjective will convince them.

How we help

A voice technical buyers trust

Brand strategy, buyer personas and tone of voice built around the plant manager, the engineer and the operator, so every claim sounds like help rather than hype.

For example: DeepCube, Nano Dimension’s industrial AI division

Products people can see inside

3D renders, exploded views, software interfaces and film that make a complex machine or platform easy to understand at a glance.

For example: Advanced Electric Machines’ 3D product renders

One brand across a big organisation

Workshops with leaders and staff, then an identity and rollout that give every office, team and trade stand the same story to tell.

For example: TI Fluid Systems’ strategic rebrand

Branding a manufacturing or engineering company

Which manufacturing and engineering companies has Outfly worked with?

+

Outfly has worked with TI Fluid Systems, Advanced Electric Machines, DeepCube and Additive Flow (both now divisions of Nano Dimension) and HSSMI, the sustainable manufacturing consultancy. The work spans brand strategy, identity, tone of voice, 3D product visuals, software interfaces and sales materials.

How do you brand a technical product for engineers who distrust marketing?

+

Start with what the buyer already doubts. For Additive Flow, research showed engineers trust only what they see and switch off at salesy language, so its tone of voice asks for every significant claim to be backed by performance data. For DeepCube, we built a calm, human voice for plant managers who had heard AI pitches that didn’t deliver.

Can a rebrand change how investors see an engineering company?

+

It can make the product easier to believe. Advanced Electric Machines had a market-leading offering, but an identity that made its products look like concepts. We overhauled its brand and website with 3D renders and exploded-view animations, and since launch it has secured UK Government backing. In November 2023 AEM announced a £23 million Series A.

How do you get a large engineering business behind one brand?

+

Build it with the people who have to live it. For TI Fluid Systems we ran brand workshops and a brand sprint with its marketing and communications team, then built a 3D ghost-car library and more than 40 films and animations on top of it. For HSSMI we ran workshops with staff from every office, tested the pitch, mission and values with them, and rewrote them from their feedback.
