Branding for mobility and transport companies

The engineering that sets you apart sits inside a casing nobody sees, yet customers and investors judge you on what they can. We help mobility and transport companies make it visible, with brand, 3D and film.

What we’ve learned

In mobility, the best engineering is usually the hardest to see.

Mobility companies build things that disappear once they work: a motor inside a drivetrain, a thermal system behind a panel, a route that only matters once you’re riding it. Meanwhile investors and customers judge the whole category by the polish of consumer EV brands. A company can be well ahead on the engineering and still look as if its products are at concept stage.

So most of our work here is about making the engineering visible. Advanced Electric Machines went into its Series A with 3D renders and exploded-view animations that show what each motor is made of and why it matters. TI Fluid Systems got a 3D-powered identity that puts its pivot to electric vehicles front and centre while honouring a heritage approaching its centenary. Scenic, built for riders who would rather skip the motorway, got a brand around the road less ridden.

If investors can’t see the engineering, they can’t value it.

Marketing Executive, Advanced Electric Machines

Branding a mobility company

Which mobility and transport companies has Outfly worked with?

+

Outfly worked with TI Fluid Systems, the global thermal and fluid systems company, on a strategic rebrand, 3D toolkit and website, and with Advanced Electric Machines, the UK sustainable electric motor maker, on its brand and website ahead of its Series A. We also rebranded, redesigned and relaunched Scenic, the motorcycle navigation app for adventure riders.

Can a rebrand help an automotive supplier?

+

It can when it starts with strategy rather than a new look. For TI Fluid Systems we ran brand workshops and a brand sprint, then built a 3D ghost car in combustion, hybrid and electric versions that shows the engineering inside. Since 2022 that has grown into more than 40 films and animations, Capital Markets Day 2023 and the TI Automotive brand.

How do you explain complex engineering to investors?

+

Show it rather than claim it. For Advanced Electric Machines we created a 3D render style and exploded-view animations that make each motor’s composition, function and benefits easy to understand, inside a new brand and website. Since the launch, AEM has secured backing from the UK Government. In November 2023 it announced a £23 million Series A.

How do you grow a navigation app for riders?

+

Build for how riders actually use it. We repositioned Scenic for adventure motorcyclists, redesigned the app so it stays glove-friendly on the move, and ran app install campaigns across Facebook, Instagram, Google and Twitter. The campaigns doubled Scenic’s rate of growth, cut cost per download by 74% and, across the May to August 2022 campaign, delivered 53.5% more app installs and 22.93% more sales than the same months of 2021.
