The world is drowning in plastic, and conventional waste management can’t handle soft plastics. Instead of being recycled, they end up in landfill, incinerators or the environment. Plastic Energy’s patented technology changes that, transforming previously unrecyclable end-of-life plastic waste into plastic that’s as good as new.
The senior team came to us just before a period of growth. With teams all over the world using the brand in different ways, they needed consistency, a stronger brand, and a way to educate their audience on the plastic problem and their solution. Our challenge was to show how an incredible but complex technology works in the real world, in a way anyone can understand.

Plastic Energy asked Outfly to become its brand and content guardian. Our designers refined the brand family to a minimalist palette and a sleek, professional feel that reflects the company’s expertise and reputation for efficiency. Our strategists, meanwhile, gave the core brand a deeper purpose, arriving at a tagline anyone can understand: Recycling plastics that no-one else can.
Then came the supporting assets. Asymmetrical 3D iconography and immersive technical illustrations made the process something anyone, young or old, could understand and even enjoy, educating newcomers and inspiring those already in the field. Together they became a signature brand style so compelling that global blue-chip partners lined up to be featured in it.

We carried that modern, playful yet professional position into a new website. Short-form animated 3D assets and longer, in-depth videos let anyone understand the technology quickly while appreciating the wider context of the solution. After launch, dwell time on the site increased tenfold.
Our team has kept designing industry-leading 3D animations and campaigns since, including the video-led campaign for a first-of-its-kind circular recycling loop with Tesco, SABIC and Sealed Air. It attracted international press and became the proof of concept for Tesco to launch the UK’s largest soft plastic recycling network, across 171 stores.

Nothing short of amazing. Our company began as a small start-up and has now grown to 200 people, with Outfly helping us to make a big splash the whole way through our growth journey. Their skill with creative and 3D allows us to stand out and secure our spot as an industry leader. They are fun, friendly and creative; we couldn’t recommend anyone better to work with.
