Branding for IT, software and telecoms companies

Most IT providers promise to make things simple, then market in language their buyers need a glossary for. We help technology companies say what they do in words buyers already use, with a brand as solid as the engineering.

What we’ve learned

Every IT provider says it’s simple. The ones that win make it feel that way.

When we reviewed the managed IT market for OneMSP, most brands leaned on the same buzzwords, the same claims to be trusted and the same generic stock imagery. That sameness is the real problem in this sector. A busy managing director can’t tell providers apart, so they tend to stick with the one they know.

The fix tends to be more human than technical. OneMSP’s whole brand hangs on one promise, IT made simple, and a line a nervous buyer remembers: surprises are only good at parties. Gigaloch became famous locally for something even plainer, the bright blue trucks that arrived to install each new connection, and its earliest customers now tell the story themselves in Behind the Fibre.

The engineering earns the renewal. The brand earns the first call.

How we help

One promise, in the buyer’s words

Brand strategy and tone of voice that turn a technical offer into a promise a managing director can repeat to their team.

For example: OneMSP, IT made simple

Identity and websites as solid as the code

Visual identity, websites and 3D work that give technical businesses the presence their delivery deserves.

For example: Monolite’s new identity and website

Launches and campaigns that build demand

Launch strategy, video, paid campaigns and sales materials that put a technology company in front of the buyers who need it.

For example: Gigaloch’s launch and Behind the Fibre series

We couldn’t be more happy with working with Outfly. They totally integrated into our business.

CEO, Gigaloch
Monolite leadership team

Working with Outfly helped us see our brand through the same lens we apply to our code: clarity, consistency and craftsmanship. The process was fast, collaborative and deeply creative. We’re proud of the result.

Branding a technology company

Which IT, software and telecoms companies has Outfly worked with?

+

Outfly branded and launched Gigaloch, a community internet provider in the Scottish Highlands, and rebranded OneMSP, a managed IT provider. We built the identity and website for Monolite, a software development studio, brand strategy for Ampliphae’s SaaS management platform, the identity for Synexus Solutions and a brand system for EDS, which connects enterprise technology buyers with sellers.

How do you brand an IT company when every competitor says the same thing?

+

Find the promise your buyers actually want, then keep it short. For OneMSP, a managed IT provider, we built the brand around one promise, IT made simple, and a sales story that starts with three questions any business owner can answer. Its microsite campaign in early 2022 earned more than 4.5 million impressions and 11,000 clicks in nine weeks.

Can branding help a telecoms startup raise investment?

+

It can make the case easier to believe. We helped Gigaloch, a rural internet provider in the Scottish Highlands, shape a business model, brand and launch that local communities would back, then ran its website and campaigns across paid, social, email and print. At the heart of the campaigns is Behind the Fibre, a documentary-style video series told through the voices of Gigaloch’s earliest customers.

How do you make complex software easy to understand?

+

Lead with the buyer’s problem, then turn the product into a simple picture. For Ampliphae, a SaaS management platform, we wrote positioning for an overwhelmed IT manager and a CIO, then built 3D icons that turn ideas like data governance into simple metaphors. For Monolite, we rebuilt the website to balance technical clarity with a human tone.
