Branding for hospitality, food and leisure businesses

What we’ve learned

Reputations in hospitality set fast, and the wrong one quietly narrows who books.

Marketing a hospitality or food brand means working against what people already think they know. Boreland Loch Tay had room for weddings, families and corporate away days, yet it was known mostly for stag and hen parties. Firezza’s stonebaked pizza was never the issue; with delivery apps and fast-casual rivals taking over the conversation, the hard part was being heard.

So we start with who the business wants to win next, then make every place people meet the brand say the same thing. For Boreland that meant a new position, a proposition for each kind of guest and a website with its own booking engine. Firezza’s identity now runs from the menu to the delivery gear, and NXT LVL PZA got a fast food brand loud enough for Gen Z meat-eaters, so the pizza could be vegan without making a speech about it.

Your brand arrives before your guests do.

How we help

A reputation that widens who books

Strategy and messaging that change what a venue is known for, with a clear proposition and a script for each kind of guest.

For example: Boreland, now one of Scotland’s most popular wedding venues

One brand from menu to delivery bag

Identities, menus, packaging, signage and photography that keep a food brand recognisable everywhere people meet it, from the ordering screen to the box at the door.

For example: Firezza’s menus, packaging and delivery gear

Marketing that fills the diary

Websites with booking built in, paid social and search campaigns, and a CRM that turn interest into direct bookings and repeat guests.

Marketing a hospitality business

Which hospitality, food and leisure businesses has Outfly worked with?

+

Outfly has worked with Boreland Loch Tay, a Highland retreat and wedding venue; Firezza, the London stonebaked pizza chain later acquired by PizzaExpress; and NXT LVL PZA, a secretly vegan pizza brand. The work spans repositioning, identity, menus and packaging, websites and booking engines, paid campaigns and investor materials.

Can a rebrand bring a venue new kinds of guests?

+

It did for Boreland Loch Tay, which was known mostly for stag and hen parties. We repositioned it as a place to make memories that last, wrote a proposition for each kind of guest and built a website with its own booking engine. It is now one of Scotland’s most popular wedding venues, with families, couples and corporate groups booking too.

How can a restaurant brand stay visible when delivery apps own the customer?

+

Make the brand work everywhere the customer meets it. Firezza had great stonebaked pizza but no real brand, and what it had made it look posh when it wanted to feel young. We built it up from its name and its pizza, then carried one identity across menus, packaging, photography, film, signage, delivery gear and digital ordering.

How do you launch a new food brand?

+

Start with the market and the model, then make the brand hard to ignore. For NXT LVL PZA we helped build a go-to-market strategy around a dark kitchen model, brokered partnerships with 16 alt-protein brands and built a Gen Z identity. The pilot location reached a 4.6 star Deliveroo rating from 350 orders.
