Deeplight combines machine learning with domain expertise to turn complex data into information people can act on. In exploration and production, its models help teams understand subsurface reservoirs, from seismic surveys and well logs to production forecasts and pump failures. In medicine, it was applying the same approach to new kinds of data about the human body, such as detailed breath spectra.
The company needed a new brand to support its investment ambitions, a clean visual language that matched how clearly it works, and a website to tie it all together. The brand had to represent both deep domain knowledge and machine learning, stretch across sectors from geology and oil to CO2 reduction and health, and stay understated and scientifically accurate. The team also wanted something completely new rather than a variation on anyone else’s look.

We started with a Brandscape workshop to define who Deeplight is. The team chose the physicist Richard Feynman as the brand’s persona: a respected scientist who could explain advanced ideas to anyone with calm, direct confidence. They wanted the understated credibility of Bell Labs and the story of DeepMind, intelligent people solving the world’s problems. Blue came through as the core colour, for trust and a calm, professional response to hard problems, with grey and silver for technical, timeless solutions.
From there we explored logo routes in quick rounds and developed the strongest. The direction we took makes light the centre of the brand: a single point of light that draws noisy, random data in and creates order from it. It gave Deeplight a wordmark and a symbol that work as well in motion as they do in print.

We turned the identity into a complete toolkit: brand guidelines, business cards, letterhead, email signatures, a presentation template, social profiles and exhibition graphics, all built on a deep navy palette with fine contour lines running through them. A short logo sting brings the light idea to life on screen.
For the web, we designed a new Deeplight website with a looping animated hero and a set of icons for each stage of the oil and gas process, from exploration and geology to development, production, geonavigation and pumps. We also designed a 43-slide discussion deck that sets out Deeplight’s machine learning solutions for upstream oil.

Deeplight needed to show prospective clients and investors that its technology is not hypothetical but already working. We storyboarded and animated an explainer video that does exactly that, working from a script developed with the Deeplight team and built around visualisations from Deeplight’s own software and models running on real data.
The film opens with the logo sting, then shows layers of tangled data passing through the Deeplight mark and coming out as clear, usable insight. It touches on the medical work before following exploration and production step by step: segmenting a seismic cube into geological layers, reading well logs, steering horizontal wells, modelling how fluids flow through a reservoir and, finally, predicting that a pump is about to fail.

Outfly, a London brand, marketing and product agency. We ran Deeplight’s Brandscape workshop, created its brand identity and guidelines, designed its website and presentation materials, and animated its explainer video.
It combines machine learning with domain expertise to turn complex data into actionable information, with uses in energy exploration and production and in medical diagnostics.
Give it a guide people trust. Deeplight’s brand persona was the physicist Richard Feynman, known for explaining advanced ideas with calm, direct confidence.
How Deeplight’s machine learning turns complex data into clear decisions. It follows exploration and production from seismic surveys and well logs through to reservoir flow and a predicted pump failure, using visualisations from Deeplight’s own models.
